Ethanol - Dehydration.
Why is Ethanol Dehydrated?
Ethanol can be dehydrated to make ethene.
This reaction is the reverse of the hydration of ethene.
Ethanol gas (vapour) is passed over a hot aluminium oxide catalyst.

Ethene can also be made by cracking hydrocarbons.
