Heat Insulation and Infra-Radiation in Buildings.
The amount of heat radiation emitted
from a building
depends on how hot it is and the
type of surface it
has.
Shiny
surfaces can be used to reflect radiation back into a
building.
We have seen how metal
foil can be placed behind
a
radiator.
Lagging for
hot water
tanks and pipes can
have a
shiny surface to increase its insulating properties.
Infra-red radiation is transmitted (passed)
through
the air in buildings
but not through the windows or walls.
